CLASS INFORMATION

Musical Theatre Audition and Performance Technique
Learn how to walk into an audition room with confidence! During this class, we will focus on audition and performance techniques and allow students the unique opportunity to work in a small group setting while honing their auditioning and performance skills. Students will learn how to prep sheet music and select strong personalized audition songs to add to their repertoire. We will also work on authentic storytelling within the framework of a song, vocal placement, and how to keep your voice healthy for the best audition and performance experience. 

Students need to bring an audition cut of 16-32 bars to perform at the first class.

Ages 8-12

Music Theory for Performers
Do you ever feel lost at a vocal rehearsal? One of the most valuable skills a singer can learn is the basics of music theory and ear training. In this class students will learn how to read sheet music, practice the art of sight reading, and learn the basics of music theory including rhythm and key signatures. These are key elements to becoming a valuable performer and will help you to perform songs with accuracy and confidence.

Ages 12 & Up

Improv/Theatre Games
Improvisation is one of the most useful skills in any actor’s toolbox. This class will explore the fundamentals of improvisation and offers a wonderful (and many times hilarious) opportunity to develop skills in creativity, listening, and thinking on your toes. Students will participate in team building, improv games and other exercises focused on building self-confidence and good communication skills. They will learn how to make bold choices, listen to their scene partner and become more confident on stage. Prior improv experience not necessary.

Basics of Puppeteering
In this class we will learn all the basics of puppetry using real puppets. Students will have the opportunity to learn what it takes to be a puppeteer similar to the ones used in Avenue Q and The Muppets. We will cover movement, eye focus and lip sync, as well as performing for live theater.
